Posted on Sat, 24 Jan 2015
Question: Had urgency a few weeks ago, and took a ten day course of cipro. This past week noticed increased burning, esp. when sitting down, but no discharge. Yesterday noticed a few bumps on labia majora. Not sure if they were there before. Advice? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Bumps might be viral origin or folliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear madam, welcome to healthcare magic. I understand your concern.

In my opinion it is known from your history that you have recurrent episodes of UTI. It is better to do urine and culture sensitivity test before and after the course of antiboitics for the accurate treatment of UTI and to know whether the infection is cleared or not. UTI and bumps are two different issues but pain during urination might be present in herpes viral infection sometimes.

Burning sensation while sitting and bumps might be viral origin or folliculitis. Folliculitis is hair follicle infection. Definitive diagnosis can be made only on examination. Apply betadine ointment and wear loose cotton undergarments. Take paracetamol for pain. And antihistamines like cetrizine if itching is present. Mostly they might subside. If not you can consult a gynaecologist for furthur course of management

Recurrent UTI and viral infections are seen in uncontrolled diabetes. So i would suggest you to get HbA1c, fasting blood sugar(FBS), postprandial blood sugar(PPBS) to know about the diabetes status.

Hope this satisfies your query.
