Suggest Treatment For Calcification In Arteries
Question: I AM 66 YR OLD MALE WITH MODERATE CHOLESTEROL. SIX FEET 190 POUNDS AND GENERALLY IN GOOD HEALTH. I WALK FOR 40 MINUTES 4 DAYS A WEEK UP HILL/DOWN HILL. I STOPPED LAST YEAR TAKING CRESTOR.
I KNOW THAT MY LAD artery has "calcification" .... somewhere in the 25% to 50% range. My calcium score is 113. My right artery in my neck also has calcium build up.
I had my vitamin D tested and was low and now I take vitamin D and K2 in the hopes of preventing more formation of calcium and/or reducing what I have. I also "juice" green leaf vegetables and have 8 oz per day (kale spinach celery carrots italian parsley and sprouts)
Any suggestions to "get rid of" the built up calcium in my arteries. I am not going back on statins .... firstly they make me feel horrible and secondly I have read several 'peer reviewed' papers that suggest that statins my in fact promote calcification.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Physical activity&healthy diet will help...
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
I have gone through your medical history and advise to run further cardiac tests to evaluate the condition of atherosclerotic plaques and associated problems.
- cardiac echo
- stress test
- ultrasound examination of carotid arteries
Physical activity and healthy diet will help prevent further built up atherosclerotic plaque. They cannot help get rid of the atherosclerotic plaque that has been already built up.
Hope it was of help!
