Posted on Wed, 8 Apr 2015
Question: I have had canker sores in on my tongue for a few days. I was examining my tongue today and felt a hard lump on the right side of my tongue. It's on the inside of tongue. I can feel it but I don't see it. It's not painful. I've never noticed it before now. I'm very concerned that it may be cancer. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
You need a thorough clinical examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Feeling of hard lump in the tongue could be sign of malignancy and it should be ignored.

I recommend you to undergo a thorough clinical examination of oral cavity, tongue and neck to rule out any signs of malignancy.

If required based on clinical findings your doctor might ask for CTSCAN.

For canker sores apply local anesthetic based gel for relief.

Avoid smoking and alcohol.

Avoid spicy food.

A multivitamin syrup.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
