Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion And Fever

Question: Hi,
It started with mild chest congestion 3 weeks ago. I get mild fever towards evening(99.9F - 100.4F oral temp). And i have throat pain as well to the left side. When i turn to the right and swallow i get pain. When i swallow head straight then there is no pain. I am a lactating mother of 6 months old baby. I have taken following medicines after consulting docter.Levocet 5 mg, cefolac- az, oflox 200mg. Each for 3 days one after other.But there is no use. My blood report is clean. There is no increase in Wbc count or neutrophils. Throat swab test shows that there is no bacteria... But i still have fever dialy towards eve and throat pain.cough is developing now. It is mostly dry cough. But sometimes i get white plegm. My absolute eosinophil count is 286 and erythocite sedimentation rate is 22mm/ hr (reference range 0- 14mm/hr). Sorry for very large description. But can u please tell me what is causing all this...thank you

As per your clinical history it appears that you are having post nasal drip with mild allergy leading to chest congestion.

If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you Antiseptic Mouth Wash like triguard for 7 min twice daily , Steam Inhalation thrice daily, Antihistaminic like levocetirizine + Montelukast combination like Romilast L 10 & Vitamin C.

Use cough suppressant syrup like Solvin cold twice daily.

Thank you for the analysis. Can you please explain more on post nasal drip n what it means. Also are the tablets safe to take while breastfeeding a 6 month old baby girl.

Post nasal drip is a excess mucus production by nasal mucosa . This accumulates back in the nose. It is due to allergy , infection in nose , acidity, etc. This accumulated mucus back in nose cause throat & chest problem.

Yes , tablet are safe while breastfeeding .

Thank you very much. One last question. If these tablets 'Antihistaminic like levocetirizine + Montelukast combination like Romilast L 10 & Vitamin C' are not available in XXXXXXX can you please let me know their substitutes.

Tab Romilast L 10 ( Ranbaxy ) & Tab Limcee or Celin ( Vitamin C ) are available in XXXXXXX .
Substitutes for Romilast L 10 is Montek Lc ( Sun pharma ) & Montair lc ( Cipla ).
Use this tablet till allergy subsides .

Hi Sir,

Thank you. My doctor prescribed Clarinova 250mg and Montemac -fx tablets, Kufril syrup and I am currently using them. Next time when I visit him I will check with him about the tablets that you have suggested.

One last question - are Clarinova 250mg and Montemac -fx tablets, Kufril syrup safe while bresastfeeding? I am really concerned about my baby because of the medications that I am taking
