Suggest Treatment For Chest Discomfort And Belching
Question: im a 28 yo male college student, just married last week. Had a great time, and a about 1/2 way through my vacation I went into a hot tub and experienced SOB and dizziness when standing up after. This was concerning but not abnormal as it was more than likely orthstatic hypotension. However, since then for about 3 days now, I am experiencing mild to moderate SOB, chest discomfort, frequent belching, (at least once every 3 mins) and the inability to obtain what seems to be a proper breath of air. I have tried OTC antacids and relaxation techniques. I am pretty concerened, because of my families history, and the fact that I do not have any medical problems.
Cardiac history such as HTN, CAD, on fathers side (Father had 4x bipass and pacemaker 10 years ago) Grandfather on mothers side expired from Hodkins Disease at age 27

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
Your symptoms aren't typical for cardiac issues. Your symptoms are related to hot tub condition which is known to cause shortness of breath and hypotension.
I would recommend to avoid exposing to wet and hot weather conditions. If the problems will persist or will increase in intensity you should go to ER to exclude any problem.
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

The same problem from the hot tub would persist even 3-4 days after? (This started about 4 days ago, but ive been in hot tubs before without this problem) Also, I forgot to add that I was in Tenesee, altitude 1,000 feet, and Im used to the Florida humid and hot climate of only a few feet above sea level. Im back in Florida now, and Im still having the symptoms. (My main concern is that this is still occurring 3-4 days in a row without any decrease in symptoms) Do any of the symptoms, especially the belching indicate anything else?
My BP was slightly elevated this AM @ 139/98 (probably secondary to me becoming worried) which is a bit high for me, but I took it an hour ago and it was 133/79. Normal Pulse Rate / o2.

Hi back,
Your symptoms doesn't suggest for something else. They seems to be related to wet and humidity combined with altitude changes. It will need a couple of days (2-5 days) and everything will be back to normality.
However, If you were my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations in order to exclude any problems:
- Blood work
- ecg
- chest x-ray
- cardiac echo
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
