Question: hello I was wondering if a tested negative for hiv, but positive for chlamydia can my results for hiv in any way be wrong ? or one virus has nothing to do with the other ?
Brief Answer:
Chlamydia infection will not affect HIV result outcome.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
Thanks for posting your query.
Presence of chlamydia infection will no way affect the outcome of HIV test report.
But you must be sure that the HIV negative test is reliable only after the window period for those HIV tests.
Chlamydia is a bacteria, not a virus and this infection is completely curable.

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV infection beyond any doubt.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
If You had more than one HIV non-reactive test report 3 months after the high risk activity, then you are absolutely free from HIV beyond any doubt. Not to worry about chlamydia infection which is curable and not interfere with the outcome of HIV test reports. 11 HIV tests were unnecessary.

Doctor I had one more test today, I now have 12 negatives results, I think I should reach out for help, have you seen before a patient such as my self ?
Brief Answer:
No further HIV test is necessary for you.You are free from HIV infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
You need no further test for HIV. You are free from HIV. Relax.
I am basically a Venereologist since 1981. I am handling HIV patients for the last 28 years. I had come across 2-3 thousands of cases of HIV during these years. I had come across many cases of HIV along with other STDs like Syphilis, Genital warts, Genital Herpes, Molluscum Contageosum, Hepatitis B etc. But in our place, we don't have much facilities to identify Chlamydia infection. But I am sure many of my patients would also have Chlamydial infections also, but went unidentified or sometimes treated as presumptive Chlamydial infection.
Moreover I had also seen patients not believing their results and also our words and going on testing for HIV themselves for years together.
