Suggest Treatment For Chronic Lyme Disease
Question: I have chronic Lyme disease. Recently I have noticed that I have a sudden need to pee and cannot make it to the bathroom in time at times. This is new to me and want some advice
Brief Answer:
Bladder neuropathy
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, chronic Lyme disease can cause urinary urgency due to bladder neuropathy. this will require treatment by an anti muscarinic medication as oxybutinine . This is a perscribtion medication that will require that you get back to your doctor for the perscribtion .
you also need to exclude the presence of a urinary tract infection by a urine analysis
you also need to exclude the presence of prostatitis by pelvic ultrasound
I hope I answered your question. if you don't have any other clarifications then please close the discussion.

Thank-you for your reply. I've had periodic prostatitis since I've had Lyme. It's been treated by anti-biotics if I have an accompanying fever. But the antibiotics worsen the Lyme. So it's a balancing act
Brief Answer:
Currently no need for antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, since you do not have fever then there will be no need to antibiotics unless you are diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. but you need to follow up on your prostatitis as long standing inflammation of the prostate may lead to prostatic hyperplasia which is enlargement of the prostate . I hope I answered your question. if you don't have any other calcification then please close the discussion
