Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation
Stool softener after thyroid check up.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.
You seem to have refractory constipation.
I would like you to have your thyroid levels checked. Hypothyroidism can cause refractory constipation.
I would recommend you a stool softener like cremaffin or duphulac to soften the consistency of the stools. This is available only with a doctors prescription though.
You need to take 4 to 5 litres of water every day and a diet rich in fibre. You can include green leafy vegetables in your diet everyday for the same. This can be in the form of spinach, colocasia, broccoli, cabbage.
I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker
thyroid check n then reassess

Dear XXXXXXX
I would advice against starting lubiprostone just right away. If there is a reversible cause like hypothyroidism, this drug will not work. I would suggest that you have your thyroid report done and take cremaffin and duphulac along with diet changes.
If the thyroid report is normal, and the medications above don't help then we can start on lubiprostone.
I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.

Dear XXXXXXX
Cremaffin, Duphulac and Lubiprostone all require a written prescription. You can have that taken from your family doctor. Unfortunately healthcaremagic and other healthforum does not have this facility to let us write you a prescription due to ethical reasons.
