Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough And Chest Congestion
Question: My 9 year old daughter has had a chronic cough with congestion in the chest for 4 months. she has tried 3 different antibiotics and 1 steriod with no success. She has no fever with this. She had strep twice during this period with treatment. Tonsils has been checked by a general practitioner and they weren't swallon. She coughs so much that she actually vomits mucous. any ideas?
Brief Answer:
Chronic cough
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
One diagnosis to consider in this scenario is reflux. Reflux can fool us sometimes. It presents exactly as you describe: cough/congestion, without resolution, mimicking infection. It doesn't respond to antibiotics, however, because it is not infectious.
I recommend consulting with your doctor to discuss the possibility of this diagnosis. usually, treatment with an anti-reflux medication resolves the symptoms.
