Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough
Question: I have what has become a chronic cough which produces significant mucous. I don't smoke. It has persisted for nearly one year. I regularly irrigate nasal passages with Ayr system and have taken Flosenase for most of the past year - all w/o effect.
Brief Answer:
Time to be evaluated in person.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
I am sorry you have a chronic cough.
Can you please tell me:
Are you taking an ACE inhibitor type of blood pressure medicine?
Did you ever smoke in the past? If so, for how long and when did you quit?
Have you seen an allergist or pulmonologist?
What type of evaluation has been done for this cough so far?
Do you think you may have acid reflux?
Do you have any shortness of breath?
Was there something that triggered the problem a year ago (such as an infection or allergy?)
What health problems and medications (other than the ones stated above) do you have?
Thank you for providing further information. This will help guide my response.
