Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: I get short of breath at the least exertion, I sweat so much that after just walking to the grocery store people ask me if it is raining. I do some chore for a few minutes and then rest. I had CHF at the end of last year, I have a-fib and I have PVCs. I am very depressed and on two medications that have helped but now on waking I sometimes have hallucinations and feel very disoriented. I did quit drinking on 7/11 now I am wondering when my sleep patterns will ever get back to my normal. I also have sleep apnea and am on a CPAP machine but sometimes on waking up I find I have removed the mask.I also have a chronic cough. I have two inhalers for this.

Brief Answer:
consult your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your concern and i can understand your concern .

So unfortunately you have a lot of co-morbidities. Each of them may be the cause of acute breathlessness.

As you explain the history in my opinion at least your heart and lungs situation need a revaluation.

If you were my patient i would recommend you to do :

ECG
Echocardiogram
D dimer
Chest x Ray

Probably you should need to rise the dosage of lasix to help the heart in pumping the blood in the organs. Or probably an anticoagulant should be add in your treatment too to prevent you from embolism.

Please discuss with your doctor for the above because he knows better your clinical picture.

If you do the above tests you can attach me the results and i will try to help you again

Take care and feel free to ask me again

I forgot to say I also have hypothyroid and am on Synthroid.

I guess my question is: Is there any hope??? I go to my doctors here very regularly and have all the tests done, Can anything get better?? My husband treats me like an invalid, my friends think I an going to die and do not want to go places with me. I keep smiling and do not complain to them it is just late at night when I am up and alone that I get down.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I am sorry for your situation.

Yes breathlessness can be from hypothyroidism too and probably you should change the dosage of the treatment after having the TSH done.

I have some patients like you.Yes i can say this is a difficult situation. But i believe that if you will be careful and correct with the treatment your condition will be stable.

About your friends and your husband it would be better to talk with them and to explain the situation. Maybe your doctor might help for this.Discuss with him for this.Try to be in movement as you can.

Take care

Regards

Dr.Jolanda
