Brief Answer:
Chronic diarrhoea

Detailed Answer:
Hi there..

Thanks for writing in..

Please do not take imodium for prolonged periods without it being prescribed by the physician. Chronic diarrhoea needs further evaluation.

How many bowel movements do you have a day? Any associated stomach cramps? Blood or mucus in stools? Associated nausea, vomiting or fever? Stress/anxiety issues worsening bowel movements? Significant weight loss?

Diarrhoea causes dehydration.. So you need to rehydrate your body by drinking ORS, fluids etc.

A course of probiotics like vizylac (lactobacilli ) might help maintain the normal gut flora.

Food like rice gruel, toast ,apples etc might help.

If none of the above helps, it would be good if you visit a gastroenterologist for further evaluation and investigation like... stool routine and culture, ultrasound abdomen ,colonoscopy etc.

Wishing you a speedy recovery..

Regards,
