Posted on Wed, 6 Apr 2016
Question: Hello

I was wondering If i ever get cured. In october 2014 my dr did a upper endoscopy and said that I had gastritis. in that moment i took pantoprazol magnesic for 6 weeks. I never felt good again. therefore in January 2016 my Dr. did another upper endoscopy and said that I had chronic gastritis and the gastritis was worse now all my stomach is irritated. by the way, I did two breath test in 2015 and they were negative for helicobacter pilory.

This time year 2016 my treatment is pantorprazol 40mg for 6 weeks.

I am really worried because my grand mother , her sisters and her mother ded of stomach cancer.

I do not know what to do to get better.

I started to drink coconut water but I do not know if this is a myth or it helps.

I stop carbonated drinks and sparkling water. from time to time I eat chocolate. can i drink decaffeinated coffee?

I am really desperate to get better what can I do ?? beside pantoprazol 40 mg in the morning before breakfast??

Brief Answer:
Hello Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
Thank you for your query
I understand your concern
Possibly you have a sensitive stomach
Your symptoms cannot be completely explained on the basis of endoscopy report
They should have improved on pantoprazole that you are already taking, since you still have ongoing symptoms try following things and see how you feel
-Eat on time, small meals at regular intervals
-Sleep adequately for 7 hours at least
-Avoid coffee, aerated drinks and dark chocolates
- You can have decaffeinated drinks but limit the quantity
-Go for regular walking
-Exercise regularly
-Avoid sleeping two hours after you have your meals
-Avoid stress
All this will help you in long run.
You can take some medications like Domperidone after consulting your physician.
Some times even mild anxiolytic medication for short duration can help too.
There is no worry of stomach cancer at all.
Hope this answers your questions
Wish you a speedy recovery
Happy to help
