Suggest Treatment For Chronic Pain And Bone Spurs

I am 73, and I have chronic pain that my doctor would give me an epidural and a steroid shot to help keep the pain manageable. However, he suddenly began to refuse to do the treatment and said I was 'too old' to have either. In addition all my pain meds were suddenly slashed to half dose without a clear explanation. The area is not well known for having quality health care so I am seeking information and a second opinion. If I am too old, what are my treatment options for chronic pain and possible bone spurs? I am having a lot of trouble sleeping and can not function well like this, and I have had to shift much of my daily care to my kids as a result.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mam.
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
The reason of your chronic pain you have not mentioned but it seems from your query that it is because of Osteoporosis ,Osteoarthtitis and disc problems.
I would recommend following for pain relief:
1. A combination of Pregabalin and Methylcobalamine once in night.
2. A SSRI group of drug like Duloxetine. This would give you relief in pain in long term. Takes around 6 weeks to show its effect.
3. Tramadol can be used as on when required basis for pain relief.
4. Pain killer gels like Volini locally.
Rest you should continue medicines for your primary conditions.
Duloxetine and Pregabalin would help you a lot.
Also you should involve in meditation and yoga.
I hope you find my answer helpful.
If you have any further query please ask Me.
Stay Healthy.
