Suggest Treatment For Chronic Sinus Infections And Pseudomonas Putida
Question: I have chronic sinus infections and recently got my nasal culture back whic read heavy growth of pseudomonas putida. I'm an otherwise healthy adult but I was told this usually happens to immunocompromised individuals. I've been prescribed Cipro 500mg is that sufficient? I'm very concerned
Brief Answer:
tetracyclin/ciprofloxacin/cotrim.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, Pseudomonas putida which is a saprophytic/ anaerobic bacteria is usually seen in immuno - compromised individual. Your doctor should perform to see if you have immunocompromisation.
I start tetracycline/ciprofloxacin/cotrimazole emperically as I await antibiotic sensitivity report. These antibiotics are considered drug of choice to treat pseudomona. Since you are on ciprofloxacin, please continue it. Antibiotic may be changed after sensitivity report.
