You have Chronic UTI secondary to senile urethral stenosis .
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been getting repeated episodes of UTI since one year and have been taking antibiotics .
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Are you diabetic ?
2) Have you done urine culture test?
Repeated episodes of UTI at this age is mostly due to what is called as Senile Urethral Stenosis .
As the age advances in females there is generalized atrophy of Genito-Urinary organs including urethra which results into narrowing of urethral passage (Urethral Stenosis ).This narrowed urethra causes incomplete emptying of bladder during micturition resulting in to significant amount of urine to remain in bladder what is termed as Post Void Residual Urine .This PVR is the source of infection.
Consult your urologist for clinical assessment and get following basic tests done
1) Urine culture
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) endoscopic examination of bladder and urtheral calibration .
Urethral calibration (Dilatation ) of urethra should be followed by dilatation of urethra daily at home .
Take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .
This will help you to empty the bladder completely and prevent from getting repeated episodes of UTI.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
