Suggest Treatment For Chronic Venous Insufficiency In The Leg

Question: Good morning
I am presently 68 years old. I am a dentist by profession. I sit practically all day and my activity level is low. I am overweight to the point that I am becoming obese. I have just started an exercise program and diet. I presently weigh 249lbs, BP 130/80. Resting pulse of 68/min. All blood values within normal range.
My concern: I have developed discoloration in my ankles, and at times slight swelling in my ankles. My self-diagnosis is venous stasis. I have recently felt like my ankles were getting a tight feeling. I just spent about 15 min doing ankle rotations and heel raises and it made a noticeable change in that short period of time. I recall my uncle (my father's brother)developing this at about my age also. He wore compression hose.
I would appreciate a professional opinion on this. I am determined to exercise, lose 40lbs, as I feel this excess weight coupled with genetics are the contributing factors.
Thank you for your comments.

Brief Answer:
It indeed is chronic venous insufficiency leading to stasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You are absolutely right.

This is definitely Venous stasis.
You need to decrease weight, keep your limbs elevated above your heart whenever you are resting, please wear Class II Compression stockings till above knee when standing or walking and have Tab Daflon 500mg twice a day for three months. This is the standard treatment we offer at our Vascular surgery Center.

Also get a Color Doppler done of the Venous system of your lower limbs to know the status of your veins.

Do not worry it will get better easily.
Please do let me know the Doppler report whenever you get it done. I could be able to advice you the further course of action.

Take care and feel free to ask any further query on this issue.
