Suggest Treatment For Circular Lesions On Abdomen And Thighs
Question: I have developed several 8mm circular lesions on abdomen and thighs - very itchy. Also small colorless bumps on backs of hands that are crazy itchy - scratching has cause lesions there. Also I seem to have some numbness in conjunction with the itching on the hands. I have tried steroids both topical and oral, not much effect. I recently had a checkup and full blood work. Slightly reduced liver function but no other warning signs. I can find no exact match using online search but I wonder if I may have an infection or an indication of systemic problem. Four months ago I had an outbreak of Scabies which took 5 treatments of permethrin to cure. It almost seems like the legions on abdomen are still left over from that.
Brief Answer:
scabies
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is a recurrent scabies.
Your symptoms and area of involvement are suggestive of that.
I treat such cases with topical permethin and oral ivermectin.
This gives good response.
Lesions will start healing within a week but itching will be there Upto a month.
You can take antihistamine tablets to relieve itch.
Don't use steroids. These will cause further spread of disease.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX I accept your diagnosis and already have a permethrin cream prescription from before that I will get tomorrow.
However I do have one burning question. How can I be recurrently infected? My wife does not have this problem and she is my only partner. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.
