Suggest Treatment For Clinodactyly In A Child

Question: My grandson will turn 2 on August 6th. He was an IVF baby, and my daughter had complete placenta previa which resulted in a C-section 3 weeks early. He had a rough start with jaundice and weight loss. The hospital laughingly called it wimpy white boy syndrome. He is an active, darling toddler, whose only medical issues seem to be frequent coughs and colds like his brother. He attends daycare. I noticed that the distal joints of both of his pinky fingers turn inward. His pediatrician never mentioned it, although I brought it to my daughters attention. I stumbled upon an article about XXXXXXX Beurer Syndrome. I do not want to alarm my daughter. He is a blue eyed blonde who is growing normally, wearing 24 months sized clothes and 30 inches tall and weighs 30 lbs. He has a bit of an overbite with long eye teeth and the end of his sternum is prominent like his grandpa. He meets all developmental milestones. My friend went to the pediatrician with her daughter"s 15 month old twins. The little boy also has curved pinky fingers, and that pediatrician questioned them about it, then said since the child seemed normal, it did not require follow up. Should my grandson have more testing?

Let me know if you received 2 photos. My computer skills are not great,

I sent a total of 3 photos. He looks like his brother, his mother and the baby photos of my husband, his grandfather. The only thing different is the crooked little fingers.

Brief Answer:
Your grand child is perfectly fine - don't worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...your grand child is very cute and perfect. Do not worry.

The curving of the fingers which you are quoting is also visible. This is called, clinodactyly. This seems to be a normal variant. Do not worry.
