Suggest Treatment For Clogged Ears Causing Pain While Yawning
Question: I got water in my ear from water park and was unable to clear it so I went home and used a Q-tip. But it appears to have pushed the ear wax further in and blocked my hearing almost completely. Using a thin metal tip I have from a personal care kit, I cleared up some earwax and regained about 50% of my hearing, still feeling stuffed. I was very careful but I feel like I may have also irritated my ear drum in the process, now experiencing minor pain with yawning, no pain at rest. No bleeding or tinnitus. Lessened hearing I still feel like is from the ear wax. Can I safely use one of the OTC solutions to clear the ear wax? Should I see my PCP?
Brief Answer:
Consult your PCP...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
I would recommend you to consult your PCP first, before using the wax solvents. As you said you are experiencing pain, there could be some injury to ear canal. Hence, it's wiser to consult your doctor before doing self medication.
At present, you can try taking OTC pain relievers. This will give you some relief from the pain.
Avoid swimming and probing till you consult your doctor.
