He makes wheezing sound while sleeping.. Another doctor told not to give ofloxacin n chocy.. I'm giving first 2 syrups from last 4 days.. Today I didn't give again he started coughing and little bit cold
needs bronchodilator
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query
It would be better if you mention the age of your son. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant and it should not be used in pediatric patients.
Wheezing suggests there is spasm of airways. These spasms are a common cause of cough in children. Bronchodilator relieves the spasm and thus cough also.Any bronchodilator like salbutamol or terbutaline containing syrup will do.
The second doctor has given you good advise to stop chocy and oflox. As oflox has not a good coverage for the organism causing respiratory infection and chocy contains cyproheptadine which has many side effects again.
So I would suggest you to consult your pediatrician and give any syrup with antiallergic and bronchodilator combination. Antibiotic may not be needed further as you have not mentioned any fever so chances of infection is very less.Continue the feeds and maintain the proper hydration by giving adequate fluids.
I will be glad to answer if you have any further query.

cough syrup for few more days, complete antibiotic course
Detailed Answer:
Good morning XXXXXXX
In case of upper respiratory tract infection cough may persist for a longer duration say 7-14 days even after infection subsides.
So I would suggest you to continue cough syrup for few more days until the cough gets mild and to complete the antibiotic course at least for 5 days. Incomplete antibiotic duration can cause resistance to the antibiotic or the infection may recur.
