Suggest Treatment For Cold And Sore Throat

Question: Hi I am suffering from Cold and sore throat. I started taking Moxikind 625 (Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate) I have fever hovering around 101 F. I took the first tablets 2 hours ago. I cannot skip work for next 2 days because of an important business deal in which my presence is a must. Whenever I suffer from fever I feel dizzy. Will Paracetamol help? When can i expect some relief?

Brief Answer: Take medications as advised below Detailed Answer: Dear Friend. Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern. These days, viral fever / sore throat sometimes takes upto 5 days to get better. Since you are already on Moxikind CV, i would like to suggest you following: 1. Anti allergic drug like Levocetrizine 5mg once a day. 2. Tab Paracetamol 650 mg thrice a day. 3. Warm saline gargles. - You may add 2 tablets of disprin in it, if you want symptomatic relief from throat pain. 4. Maintain adequate hydration, consume lot of water, take tea and soups. 5. You may take lozenges like Strepsils. 6. Do steam inhalations. Fever might persist for 3 days. Paracetamol round the clock should help. This is my personal opinion based on details available here. Thank you very much for your help. What should be the dosage for Moxikind 625? One tablet every 12 hours?

Brief Answer: Twice to thrice a day. Detailed Answer: Welcome back friend. If you are normal weight, at your age, Moxikind CV 625 mg should be taken thrice a day. However, for sore throat, many a times we just prescribe it twice a day as its mostly viral infection. Antibiotic just provide you cover from secondary infection.
