Suggest Treatment For Cold And Throat Pain

Question: My father is travelling and is suffering from cold and severe throat pain. Is there any medicine he can be prescribed.

I have read through your query, and I would suggest the following:

- If you father has history of sinusitis, and his present symptoms involve headache, tenderness over the head, eyes- then he will have to take antibiotics to resolve.

- for cold, I will suggest you to give him Tab. DOLO 650mg twice daily for headache or bodyache.

- for severe throat pain, do betadine gargles thrice daily and also consume warm bland foods so as to avoid further throat irritation.

- Also take Syrup. TUSQ-D 10ml three times daily if he has cough.

Thank you doctor this is really helpful. Is there any mild medicine that he can take for throat pain for short term. He will be back tomorrow and would undergo a complete checkup.

I would suggest you to ask him to take Tab. DOLO 650mg twice daily and also Tab. SINAREST once a day for now.

Ideally a short course of antibiotics must be taken for severe throat pain like Azithromycin, but like you said, you can choose to do it if needed after a check up.
