Suggest Treatment For Cold, Cough Along With Running Nose

Do let me know what can I do about this.
GER is still there
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Cough during feed suggests gastroesophageal reflux. Gastroesophageal reflux is normal in neonates as sphincters are not strong in this age.
When this reflux causes symptoms like not gaining proper weight, recurrent vomiting, cough during feed or pneumonia due to micro aspiration of liquids from the food pipe to airway then it is termed as gastroesophageal reflux disease.
I assume that you are taking care for GER like upright position of baby after feed and during sleep, burping after feed and anti reflux medication.
The present condition may be due to viral infection also.Anti allergic drops, nasal saline drops, some syrup which decreases the spasm helps in this condition. Coscopin contains cough suppressant and it should be avoided in infants.Syrup containing bronchodilator like salbutamol with ambroxol and antillergic will be more helpful. Omnacortil is a steroid indicated in few upper airway disease and it should also be avoided in this age.
Even nebulisation may be needed if there is spasm of airway on chest examination.
I would suggest you to consult the pediatrician for proper evaluation and discuss the treatment with him.
Regards

We have been asked to stop all the current medication by our pediatrician and have been asked to give Cosporin drops (4 drops, 3 times a day).
Please suggest if this is fine.
cosporin or coscoril
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Sorry but I think it is coscoril not cosporin.
Coscoril contains terbutaline which relievs the spasm, and some soothening agents.
You can continue coscoril syp for few more days.
If he is already on Vit D supplementation then its good otherwise it should be supplemented till one years of age.
I think you should give junior lanzol and domstal drops for few more days as there was history of GER.
Regards

cough usually improves in 7-10 days
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Give coscoril drops for next 5-7 days. Cough will get resolve by that time.
Take care about positioning and feeding of the baby.
Follow the immunisation schedule properly.
Check baby's weight regularly so that you can assess the growth.
Continue the vit D supplementation.
Contact your physician if she develops any symptoms.
