Question: Can I take a cough medicine that contains dextromethorphan and guaifensin if O take metoprolol tartrate? I have a cold and the cough and congestion are keeping me awake at night.

I would insist you to avoid medicines containing dextromethorphan. It acts in a direction reverse to that of expectorants like guaiphenesin. You can take Grillinctus BM Syr. Also take steam inhalation. No issues if you take metoprolol tartarate along.
