Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, it can be anything ranging from herpes labialis to acne vulgaris but on based on its looks it favors more towards hair follicle infection.

It may need topical antibiotics like fucidic acid or antibiotics like augmentin etc. Using anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain or swelling and anti histamines like cetrizine for itching can help with symptomatic relief.

If it progresses, get it reviewed by a dermatologist. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.

Brief Answer:
Less likely to be cold sore

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for sharing the feedback. Judging by its look it seems more like a local infection like of hair follicle infection called folliculitis and it may need topical or oral antibiotics however at this moment you can use only anti inflammatory meds like Ibuprofen or acetaminophen. It will resolve soon. If it doesn't get it reviewed in detail by the dermatologist. Regards.
