Suggest Treatment For Cold Sores On The Face
Question: I have gotten what I thought were cold sores since I can remember. Normally when stressed, lack of sleep, or sick. They were sores that would come on my face though- by my mouth, nose, or eye. I'm not 30 and recently after being sick have gotten blisters all over my face. At one point a dr. said it was Impetigo but it never seems to spread to family members even though I've been in very close contact. What is it?! Impetigo? Cold Sores? Something else?
Brief Answer:
Cold sores
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is herpes simplex or in other words cold sore.
It's not impetigo.
I treat such cases with an antiviral cream like acyclovir to be applied thrice daily for a week.
This gives good results.
Try to relax.
Stress can cause flare ups.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

How can i get acyclovir? do I need a perscription? Can you give a perscription? I just want to be sure it's not impatigo in your opinion? The family dr. I go to said it was, but it doesn't seem to match up.
