Suggest Treatment For Colds And Chest Congestion
This happens once a year it seems and I cant seem to kick it without prescrip. meds which i dont want to use but this saps my energy level. Otherwise, normal weight, non-smoker and drinker, excercise weekly, normal bp etc. but low on energy I believe because of fighting allergies.I have helped myself greatly in the past year by cutting out sugar and processed food in diet along with drinking much more water.
Medicines need to be altered...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query.
According to the history described by you, I am of the opinion that you are suffering from Allergic Rhinosinusitis.
Though you have taken adequate measures, the problem is not yet solved because of the inappropriate medicines.
Both XXXXXXX Seltzer Plus and Mucinex D contains decongestants, taking them simultaneously can worsen your problems. And these medicines are suitable for running nose; and may not be of much help in clogged nose.
My sincere advice to you:
1. Drink plenty of warm water
2. Do steam inhalation 2-3 times a day for 2 minutes.
3. Try taking ambroxol if there is any phlegm associated.
4. Use saline nasal spray as frequently as possible.
5. A steroid nasal spray is very beneficial in this situation.
6. A course of broad spectrum antibiotics, if the symptoms do not relive within a day or two.
7. Avoid chilled food & beverages and coffee.
8. Change your pillow cover every night before going to bed, this will reduce most of your allergic symptoms.
Hope with the above measures you should be alright. Revert back to me, if you have any further queries.

Plain amoxycillin may not be effective...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for writing back
1. Ambroxol can be bought OTC in many countries.
2. Plain amoxycillin may not be helpful. A combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid would be ideal in treating your problem.
Hope this clarifies your doubts, wish you good luck and good health.
