Question: my wife is having pain due to stone. She is breast feeding our 9 month old baby. Is buscopan safe to be taken? Are there any other alternative medicine for kidney stone pain other than buscopan which is safe while pregnancy.

She can use other analgesics like acetaminophen and drotaverine

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what your wife has been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, she can use analgesics like acetaminophen instead of hyoscine. Even NSAID like diclofenac during extreme pains isn't absolutely contraindicated.

Anti spasmodic like drotaverine can be helpful but it's safety data isn't known. It can be used only when benefits over weigh the risks as even if it is released in small amount, it is not directly harmful for the safety of baby but it should be discussed in detail with your primary doctor first.

Meanwhile drinking good amount of water and using citrosoda sachets in water can be helpful.
Wishing her quick recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
