Suggest Treatment For Colon Cancer

default
Posted on Tue, 31 May 2016
Question: I have been diagnosed with colon cance. I have been told by a physician that I should take chemotherapy & radiation treatments for 6 weeks prior to having a section of my large intestine removed & have a pouch installed. I have taken treatment(non-medical) for about 6 months. Most of the time I feel better, & have more bowel movements than before. Lately, I have bleeding & pain prior to & after bowel movements.

I have no questions until I see the Dctor's comment.

Brief Answer:
should start the treatment early

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Going by the treatment plan, it seems more of rectal cancer than colon cancer. If the cancer is very low in the rectum then only option is removal of rectum and installing colostomy pouch in abdomen.

Results are good usually. With radiation combined with chemo the tumor can be reduced in size and extent and surgery is facilitated. The symptoms should improve after starting treatment.

I really think that you should start the treatment soon as already six months have passed.

Hope this helps.

I have an appointment to get another CT Scan on Tuesday, March 22. I also have an appointment with a surgeon on April 7, which proceeds a second ultra sound test.

I will not be starting any treatments prior to having these tests. I plan to keep on treating myself with holistic methods until that time.

Brief Answer:
sure, we need to complete all workup before treatment

Detailed Answer:
What I meant that as soon as you are cleared for treatment by treating physician you should start it.

Till then holistic treatment is fine.

Brief Answer:
probably peripheral neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
This looks like some chronic nerve damage, called peripheral neuropathy. A neurologist consult is warranted. This is unrelated to rectal cancer.
