Suggest Treatment For Confusion And Memory Loss While On Wellbutrin

Posted on Fri, 30 Jun 2017
Question: Hello, I had to ask a question about confusion and memory yesterday, but u still am feeling unsettled. I started Wellbutrin 1.5 weeks ago and have had bad anxiety and depression in the last month. In addition to not remembering how to use an appliance on Monday, I have taken a second to remember how to use a piece of make up that I use everyday About a month ago. Is it normal to have moments of confusion and memory lose with anxiety and depression. I had to think about how to use the makeup, and I think it was before I started the medication. I was under stress and had anxiety at that time though. I am a 44 yr old female and I am scared to death that I am getting mild cognitive impairment or early onset Alzheimer's.

Brief Answer:
need to get examined and investigated as advised by a neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

Transient moments of memory lapses are common in day to day activities.

Repeated episodes need to be evaluated.

Is there any other disease like diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism?
Please get blood tests i.e. blood sugar assays, thyroid profile, vitamin B-12, renal function test and liver function test.

Evaluation by a neurologist will be helpful as well as reassuring.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

I am borderline hypoglycemic and have low iron. Could these be factors. I was under the impression from the last neurologist that answered my question that this was normal. Could this not be due to anxiety. Now I am really scared.

Brief Answer:
Borderline hypoglycemia, not linked with memory impairment

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Borderline hypoglycemia, without loss of consciousness, may not be a cause of memory impairment.
Even iron deficiency is not related to memory issues.

Although, anxiety may be associated with decreased memory.
