Suggest Treatment For Congested Cough, Running Nose And Sneezing

Question: My 7 month old son is suffering from congested cough with running nose and sneezing. But fortunately he has not developed fever. We consulted his regular pediatrician and he prescribed Synclar, Ascoril and Wikoryl for 6 days. It is already 5 days and there seems to be no improvement. He does not have appetite I think because of continuous medication, he has developed gas. He constantly cries and feels difficult to sleep. I have pedicloryl prescribed by his Ped for excessive crying. But I am scared to give hime that as I have heard from other parents that the child gets addicted to it. Please suggest what to do....A very very worried mother
Brief Answer:
avoid pedicloryl
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Usually cough and cold may last a week.
But there should be some improvement in 5 days.
If your baby is still showing no improvement I suggest you get her examined for chest or throat infection which may require treatment if identified.
Pedicloryl is a sedative drug
Should be avoided unless given under medical supervision.
Try nasal saline drops and steam inhalation to help in better breathing.
Wishing your child good health.

Doctor, Thanks for the prompt reply...But if he cries excessively for some reason and does not sleep, What should I give him for instant relief.
Brief Answer:
Try colic aid drops
Detailed Answer:
Hi
It could be colic pain too.
I advice my patients colicaid drops 0.3 ml to calm them.
You are already giving wikoryl which is an antihistamine.
You can continue that to calm your child.
