Suggest Treatment For Conjunctivitis And Pain In Left Eye

Question: Hi. I was suffering from Conjuctivitis possibly from Wednesday 1st July. I went to doctor on 3rd July and got some eye drops. The condition reduced but did not go away. Today morning (on 11th July) when I woke up, I had a pain in the left eye. I went to see a doctor and she told that now my cornea is also affected and asked me to use drops "Moxigram" for six times a day and use tube "Acivir" Ointment for five times a day. My left eye is bit swelled.

Is this normal? I am supposed to take up important office project next week and will have to work on computer. It has been eleven days but my infection is not over. It seems it is only increasing. Please guide.

I am Dr. Dadapeer, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question

I reviewed your history.
The symptoms and history you have mentioned indicate keratoconjunctivitis.
This usually occurs in severe viral conjunctivitis.

The treatment you are using in the form of Moxigram, an antibiotic eye drops and acivir eye ointment, an antiviral drug is in right direction.

The condition usually takes 1-2 weeks for resolution.
The complete resolution takes more than three weeks.

You can work with computer but all viral eye infections usually takes more than 3 weeks to resolve.
Hence you need to continue treatment as advised and need to attend follow up with your doctor. After one week mild steroid drugs may be required for control of inflammation.

Hence I advice you to continue treatment as now and attend follow up.

Can I work on laptops? My new project starting Monday will require me to work a lot on laptop?

Also is there a good possibility of this getting quite reduced by Monday?

You can work on laptop. If you feel eye strain the use of artificial tears eye drops like Refresh tears will be of help to you.
