Suggest Treatment For Constant Cough With Phlegm

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016
Question: Hi Dr. I finished arriving to Mexico City where the weather has changed drastically from where I was living prior. I was living in Canada prior for the winter season where it was fairly chilly but nothing to cold, and as of a week now have been in Mexico where it is spring. I have had a constant cough with phlegm, I've been really hot because my apartment is humid and not well ventilated and with constant irritants in my environment such as pet dander, aersol sprays, and such. My energy levels are good but I do get kind of tired from the heat. I've noticed showering this morning though that their was some dry blood around my belly button and I'm noticing right now my stomach feels kind of uncomfortable and went to the bathroom to find more smelly bloody pus kind of forming inside. I was wondering if You could help. Thank You.

Symptoms:

1) One day of heaving and sweating.
2) Coughing non-stop with phlegm. Has gotten better.
3) Little appetite.
4) Water Stool, Diahrrea.
5) Belly Button Bleeding/Pus, Belly Button Discomfort and Slight Pain.
6) Fatigue.

Yes, Thank You Doctor.
The belly button thing I just noticed this morning showering, although yesterday on my shirt I saw a brown smelly stain that I thought was just spilled spaghetti. This morning I noticed it but thought it might be dry skin. I hadn't had it before ever. This is a concern foresure. I eat a lot of outside food. I eat fried foods in the street, sea food at markets, and I drink a local bevarage called "pulque" that comes from an agave tree. Theirs quite a few things.

I did just a couple of hours ago as I was trying to get to bed here and felt my abdomen hurting. As of yesterday, however, as I was getting in the shower it was already dried.
No, I have never undergone any abdominal surgery.
I haven't been vomitting or needing to vomit either. I started off with a cough that is still persisting, and I do break into sweat.

3. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated.
4. Drink oral rehydration solution (ORS) 1-2 liters per day.
5. Start probiotic drug.

I don't know what the medical system is in Mexico. I know where the pharmacy is and can probably do a pick up, but if NOT I know where the Hospital is. I'll try the pharmacy first.

Quick question. Does any of this make sense as to why I would have an intestinal infection?
1) I live in an apartment with no ventilation and it's hot out.
2) It's spring and theirs outdoor changes.
3) I have a cat in my close proximity whose shedding and plays in her litter a lot.
4) I have the fan constantly going and I notice some dust bunnies caught on it.
5) We had some wind the other day and dust, powder and other things outside was blowing in my fast.
6) The air I have in my apartment is humid.
7) My pillows are fleece and haven't been washed.

Outside Sea food is the culprit fir your intestinal infection.

Now I am getting clearer picture of your disease.
Your intestinal infection is mostly due to outside sea food.
Your coughing and phlegm is more likely due to allergy to animals and surrounding environment.
Please let me know
1. Do you have breathlessness on exertion?
2. Did you get similar kind of allergy in the past?
(same symptoms when you change your environment)
3. Did you have coughing and phlegm ever in Canada?

As we speak Doctor, I'm starting to vomit black bile and chunks right down to saliva.
Interestingly enough I DON'T FEEL breathless at all. It all started upon arriving here in Mexico. To tell You the truth, it might be more than just the seafood place. Having consumed fried foods in less developed areas, maybe where theirs rats I've been around. Also, a drink called pulque which is said to have amoebas.
Right now, my throat kind of hurts from such violent vomitting.

Brief Answer:
Take these drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having allergic reaction to the new environment which gives you cough and phlegm.
Sea food of poor quality from less developed area caused you intestinal infection.
Here are your drugs.
1. Combination of ofloxacin (200mg) + ornidazole (500mg) twice daily after some food. (antibiotic for intestinal infection)
2. Combination of pantoprazole (40 mg) and domperidone (20mg) twice daily on empty stomach. For acidity and vomiting.
3. Combination of levocetrizine (5mg)and montelukast (10mg) once daily. For allergic cough.
4. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated. Take oral rehydration solution (ORS) 1iter per day.
5. Avoid outside food. Avoid stale food. Avoid oily and spicy food.
You will mostly improve with all these in 2-3 days.
But if you still have diarrhea and vomiting even after 24 hours of these drugs then go to hospital.
Hope I have solved your query.

I'd like to get some sleep in the mean time and wake up to do this. Today I only had some soup... and to tell You the truth, their probably was some undercooked chicken in it. It did taste a little cold. Living in a really dirty city Doctor... it's like finding a needle in the haystick what the real culprit was. I drink a lot of bottled water too... having been able to just get water from the tap back home in Canada and having to get it from a fridge at a store here, it's like even the water tastes different too. It's bloating and such. The last thing I ate was about 10 hours ago. My appetite has been really low these days.

The last vomit is mostly having stomach acid.
You have not eat anything since 10 hours. In our stomach, acid produced regularly. When you don't eat anything, it starts accumulating and cause vomiting.
So better to eat something like biscuit or any light stuff.
Please let me know

To tell You the truth. I've been dealing with some bereavement in the last couple of months with 2 Grandparents and I come from a really negative family and somewhat of a toxic environment. I'm actually a positive person by nature, lately though I've been under so much stress and travel that my defenses are probably low... I don't know. Is their a subconscious correlation? My Grandma who was grieving over my Grandpa just got a kidney infection following. I wonder.

THANK YOU DOCTOR!!!! well I'm thinking of opening up a business here in Mexico. My website is... http://www.cibertecmexico.weebly.com. I do tend to worry. When I get down though I just refer to an anxiety expert named Chalres Linden on YouTube and it helps. Right now though with having to go back to Canada in a month having just arrived in Mexico and having faced some severe violence during my life here, dangerous working conditions, and abusive teacher student relationships as an English and Science teacher in Elementary... I always knew I could count on my Grandfather and his words of wisdom to lift me up. Having buried him though, and coming from a household of passive-aggressiveness, a hostile and jealous mother and father with serious issues and negative talk all the time... I guess when the going gets tough my mind kind of refers to that rather than the good. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE!!!
