Suggest Treatment For Constant Pain In The Knee

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Sep 2017
Question: I have been having severe pain in my left knee, especially when i sit or drive. Often it is in the back of the knee and also down the shin and front ankle. I also have significantly increased urination. My knee is painful when I bend it back. I limp and have difficulty putting weight on it when I get up from sitting position. It is also very painful at night and causes me to get little sleep.I have been prescribed Nabumetone, but it is having little or no impact. Icing has only very little and temporary results. Originally it seemed better when I play tennis. Recently, it is painful and significantly decreases my mobility.

The pain is almost constant and extreme in the whole knee area. I am unable to walk without pain. I am urinating at least every 1/2 hour. I am having difficulty with limited and normal movement.

Brief Answer:
Osteoarthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

You seem to be suffering from Osteoarthritis of the knee which matches your symptoms and common in your age group.

Avoid bending the knee much. Apply warm packs. Take Tablet Acetaminophen/Paracetamol 500mg thrice a day for 10 days.

Do get an Xray to look for Osteoarthritis and how severe it is. If very severe it will benefit from knee replacement.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
