Suggest Treatment For Constipation, Black Stool And Liquid Discharge From Anus
My grandmother is 82 years old. She had no stool from 6 days. Yesterday we have given her cremafin plus at bed time on the suggestion of a doctor. Today morning she had stool many times. She has lots of pain just before she passed the stool. (The stool is blackish).
Currently little liquid is leaking after little pain from the stools.
Two days before giving cremafin plus we had her take an enema administered in home, by a nurse. It was also painful for her with little stool.
1) When can we expect the current stool and pain she gets before stool to stop?
2) will it stop automatically?
3) What diet to give her now?
We have an appointment for a GastroEnterologist for her tomorrow for further inspection.
4) Please suggest how to take care in the mean time as it is sunday.
Please consider these guidelines
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I had gone through your question vwey diligently and I really appreciate your concern for your grandmother.
Looking at your description this might be related to fissure in anus due to constipation or inflammation of the anal canal due to enema.
Creamaffin is a stool softener and it may cause large amount and increased frequency of stool when taken in excess. It may leak through anus after completely evacuating the bowel.
You need not to worry please follow these guidelines until she sees a gastroenterologist.
Give her probiotics and lots of dietary fiber
Ask her to take soft diet, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Plenty of fluids orally including ORS, lemon water and fruit juices to counter dehydration and electrolytic imbalances.
You can suggest her to apply anaesthetic ointment lignocaine locally at the site of pain and irritation.
Hope this answers your question
Please feel free to ask for follow up question I will be happy to help you
Best wishes
