Brief Answer:
Sometimes a single enema may not work if there is very hard, impacted stool

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
Sometimes a single enema may not work if there is very hard, impacted stools.Try this combination---
Daily, repeated glycerine suppositories to be inserted at night, salt containing oral laxatives, (one satchet in water twice a day), along with bulking agents like soluble Psyllium, (one large spoon in a big glass of water at night) may do the trick,
Also try manual removal with a lubricated, gloved finger.
If these do not work you should go in for a colonoscopy to find out cause for non responding constipation.
