Brief Answer: Possible obstruction. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. The main problem is that what seems to be regular constipation sometimes may be bowels obstruction. The main difference between the obstruction and constipation is that with obstruction also gasses are blocked. If you have also abdominal cramps, have lost some weight recently or there has been some blood in stool, colon cancer should be the first to rule out. I suggest you to do not wait trying enemas as one or two enemas should give some relief. Otherwise, its something more than constipation. Please visit ER with your problems. Abdominal X-ray should be done to rule out obstruction. Also colonoscopy is necessary. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.

Shouldn't a ct scan show a bowel obstruction? Because I had a ultra sound and a ct scan a few weeks ago to rule out any liver problems

Brief Answer: . Detailed Answer: There could be no obstruction in that time. CT or ultrasound are not used to diagnose obstruction. So without an X-ray it can be misdiagnosed. Sometimes obstruction is visible as distended intestines in ultrasound. In my opinion colonoscopy is much more necessary than CT in your case. So please have abdominal X-ray done if you are unable to pass gas. And get scheduled for colonoscopy. Regards.
