Suggest Treatment For Controlling Cholesterol Levels In My Body

Question: hi, I am male 47 years. Suffering from Polio in the legs.I use elbow crutches for walking.
My total Cholestrol was 265 in Feb. 2012.
I was advised Crestor-20 & Ezitemine, it came down near about 200+/-10
During these 3 years I observed that my stamina reduced particularly the arms , so I was able to walk less..
In Janury 2015 this year I discontinued the medicines.
Within less than two months, Cholestrol has shot to 389.
Will this shoot up in value is temporary and will it be again 265?
Shall I start the same medicines again immediately?
Please advise I am in panic...

Brief Answer:
need more details. tricky issue.
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir
Management of cholesterol is not solely guided by total cholesterol levels now a days. Please mention the value of all the fractions including HDL, LDL and VLDL. Also mention your current medical illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure. Please tell if you smoke?
Since you have suffered from lethargy/ weakness in past, restarting the drugs on your own is not a prudent step. Let me study all your details and I will discuss how to proceed.

Dear Doctor,
Thanks for your reply.
I do not smoke. I am on Olmezest-20 for BP
I am attaching here the following reports:
1) Initial report
2) Report after administering statin with CPK
3) Report after statin withdrawal
I took the exercise program at Asian Heart for 3 weeks and continued at local Gym for 3 months...but there was no effect on the cholesterol values
Kindly give your advise.

Brief Answer:
do not panic. please see details.
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir
1. Why did you stop the drugs when creatinine kinase was normal? Was any neurologist examined you and declared that your decrease stamina is due to statins only?
2. It is really surprising that in nearly 7 weeks there is so much change in LDL cholesterol level. I would recommend a cross- check from a standard laboratory.
3. Definitely at this much level you need statins. but we can not afford your muscle power to go down. After rechecking of levels, if they come out to be so high, you need dual care of a neurologist and cardiologist. The statins, only statins not ezetemibe, may then be reintroduced very carefully and dosage should be increased gradually, carefully watching status of muscle and CPK levels, to see if you can tolerate them. As of today, there is not much role of any other drug beside statins in cholesterol management. But statins are known to damage muscle albeit only in small percentage of patients.
4. In the meantime please continue with your exercise. There is no need to panic because high LDL cholesterol levels do not cause any acute effect.
