default
Posted on Tue, 12 Apr 2016
Question: I have got a corn on my left foot and it appears that I may get it on my right foot also. Could you please advise if there is a treatment for this via medicine rather than surgery?

Brief Answer:
Use Salicylic acid preperation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Thank you for your post.
I have read your description and understand your concern.

Try to follow these medical measures.

1) Soak your feet in warm water for few minutes until tissue softens. Dry your foot thoroughly. Apply Keratolytic agent like Salicylic acid preparations like 40% salicylic acid pads and plaster. Make sure you are not applying it on normal skin.
Repeat the procedure every 48 to 72 hours, for up to 14 days, or until the corn is removed.
Oral antibiotics are advised if it is infected.

2) Other medications which cab be used are 40% urea cream, and 12% lactic acid cream.

3) Do not use steroid cream.

PS:Surgery is still the best option.
Overall, removing or adjusting the mechanical stress causing the corn—finding footwear that matches the length and width of a foot—is the first step towards treatment of this condition.

I hope this helps you.
Get back to me if you have further query.

Take care. BYE.

Brief Answer:
Xerina cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi.....
Thank you for your follow up query and sorry for late reply.

Any ointment/ cream containing Salicylic acid or Urea will do the job.
You can use Xerina Cream.

However my personal choice to treat corns is Corn pads containing Salicylic acid. They are more effective than topical cream / ointment.

Please get back to me if you have further query.

Take care. Bye.
