Suggest Treatment For Cough And Cold Along With Fever
Question: Hi Doctor
I am having cough and cold with mild fever for more than 2 weeks now. have consulted physician twice.
He had prescribed some anti allergic and antibiotic with no improvement after one week on medicine.
Now again prescribed following medicines on 16/03
antiallergic ( allegra M)
antibiotics ( Augmentin 625)
Cough expectorant (piriton)
Imubless (to improve immune systems)
I still have cough and cold and mild fever. the above medicine should have been effective. There is no complication in breathing, No high fever. but had loose motion yesterday and today as well that may be because of amoxycillin.
Please advise whether the symptoms are related to Swine flu ? The cough was earlier yellowish and now whitish, feeling mild feverish body.
Please advise what suppose to be done now if symptoms continues.

In my opinion you are having viral upper respiratory tract infection ( URTI ).
And your loose motions are due to augmentin only. So stop this drug.
Yes, it can be swine flu. But better to first get done chest x ray.
If x ray is normal then no need to worry for swine flu.
But if x ray is showing infiltration then we need to rule out swine flu first.
In your case, I think you will have normal chest x ray. So no need to worry for swine flu.
Get done chest x ray to rule out possibility of swine flu.
Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid stress and tension. Do warm water gargles 5 - 6 times a day.
And stop augmentin.

thank You sir. I will get it done and visit to my physician.
Only question incase of URTI the augmentin should have been effective?
as advised to stop augmentin. then it need to be replace with some other antiboitics?
or no need for antibiotics?

Since you had diarrhoea, augmentin should be stopped,because augmentin can cause diarrhoea.
