Suggest Treatment For Cough, Chest Discomfort And White Spots On The Legs

Question: i have been having a cough that has not been productive for about 2 months, in the last couple weeks the phlegm is a greyish green in colour. I have this discomfort in my chest that is about centre more to the left of the sternum but about where the chest muscle starts. I also have discomfort to the lateral side of this muscle but it all seems deeper then the muscle. I have been tired the past couple months. My history is I am a smoker for the past 42 years, smoke about 11 - 15 cigarettes a day. Drink beer that ranges from 24 - 96 beers a month, depends on my work schedule. I have had shingles 2 years ago, then I presented with these white spots on my legs, hand, the lower area of my back about the area where my jeans sit, not a lot of spots. I went to the Emergency room a month ago, the Dr. did a chest xray, told me that there was something on my lung and that I needed to see my family physician to have it investigated. I have seen my family physician and he has given me an antibiotic which I do not believe I need. Are you able to give me any information to push further investigation into if it could be lung cancer. I do not want to wait and find out I could have had testing to find out.
Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Yes it could be cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So as you are a chronic smoker, and the cough has been there for long, it could be a case of lung cancer. I would like to have a look at your chest xray and please also tell me whether you have loss of weight and appetite too.
You will require a ctscan of chest as a part of further evaluation and a biopsy.
Please revert back with xray film picture
Thanks and regards

I do not have the chest xray. I only seen the radiologist report that was in my file at the family physician office the day I went for appointment. I do not believe I have had a significant weight loss or appetite.
Brief Answer:
Hello. Please upload the report.
Detailed Answer:
Hello. You can upload the report. But in.my opinion a ct scan will be required even if you don't have weight loss.
Thanks and regards
