Suggest Treatment For Cough, Runny Nose And Cold In A Child
Question: My almost 4 yrs old son, weighing 16.5 kgs is suffering from cough and cold. he has runny nose, but mucus is thicker than typical allergic rhinitis mucus. cough sounds like productive cough, though no mucus is coming out. looks like a viral infection because he was playing all day yesterday with a kid his age suffering from viral cough and cold. I have Montair LC kid syrup, Sinarest syrup, Mucolite syrup and Allegra syrup at home. can i use any of these to help give him some relief, or else, which medicine to give to him. his temperature is 99F only.
Brief Answer:
Can be given.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
The mentioned symptoms indeed seem to be due to a viral infection. You can give the mentioned medicines but should not give all of them simultaneously. Rather, it would be advisable to give Montair LC Kid and Mucolite only. Also give steam inhalation. It would help in diluting the thickened mucus and would thus provide relief.
Let me know if I could help further.
