Brief Answer:
may be due to post nasal drip

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The mucus on mornings may be related to post nasal drip of mucus.

This is the most common cause of mucus in the throat and also the most common reason for a persistent cough.
There are some persons who are not aware of the drip itself.

Initial treatment normally consists of an antihistamine decongestant combination. If this not effective then topical steroids sprays or other oral medication would be added.

The antihistamine decongestant combinations would be available over the counter eg zyrtec d, allegra d, claritine d, benadryl d

It can unfortunately sometimes take 1 to 2 weeks for response. If one does not occur then the steroid spray can be added eg nasonex, nasocort, flonase, rhinocort.
This would require a prescription

Medications such as montelukast and ketotifen are also considered if there is no response.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
