For this conjunctivitis,as you have correctly diagnosed, you have to wash your eyes with plain water, put in antibiotic drops like gentamycin, moxifloxcin or ciprofloxin eye drops many a times and antibiotic eye ointment which is to be applied daily at bed time.
Since these are contact infections you have to take measures not to spread the infection to people you come in contact with.

Can these eye drops be purchased over the counter or do I need a prescription?
Thanks for your help. If I need a prescription, can you call that in for me?

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
My Dear,
Thanks for getting back to us.
The reason I have given you the list of compounds to be used in the eye drops is that you have to find out any of these are available over the counter, as they are all good enough.
If there is any other anti biotic drops available over the counter then you can get back to me.
