Suggest Treatment For Cyst-like Bump On Center Of Neck

Question: I had a cyst-like bump on center of my neck which got infected. It now is a hard mass under what appears to be normal colored skin. I went to a dermatologist today who said I should cut it out, which would leave a line. It is in the center of my neck and looks flat unless I touch it and feel hardness. If squeezed gently, looks like dead mass of skin (lighter) underneath. I am using cortisone cream twice a day, beginning today, to see if helps. I also wonder about micro needling (derma pen) which might be able to break up the tissue and soften it without surgery. I have had derma pen treatments before, and my skin responds very well to it. It is also very safe. Do you know if this might be an option? This doctor does not offer derma pen or microneedling/stamping. Thank you.

1. Since when are you having this problem?
2. any history of fever, sore throat or other infection?
3. are you on any medication?
4. do you or any one in the family has history of diabetes, hypertension, cancer or other illness?
5. have you observed that size of swelling gas recently increased?
6. please share a close clear image of the swelling.
