Suggest Treatment For Cyst On Inner Thigh
Question: I have a cyst on my inner thigh, it was maybe the size of a marble. I have been leaving it alone because they tend to go away on their own for me. Yesterday I did a lot of walking, and ended up chafing the area. I put balmed on the chafing and went to bed. This morning I woke up and the two problems seemed to merge. Now I have a very solid patch of skin (size of a baseball) that feels attached to the cyst. It is in pain, and there was a big white head on top. I popped the white head and put iodine on the area, but should I be worried?

Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
As per details, it seems that the sebaceous cyst present on your thigh has got infected due to chafing of the area.
Sebaceous cyst otherwise have very high chances of acquiring bacterial infection.
Still I would like to see the images of the cyst so that I can help you to my best.
You may require broad spectrum antibiotics for resolution of the infection first.
Later sebaceous cyst would be treated so as to avoid recurrent infections.
Kindly get back to me with uploaded images of the affected area.
Thanks .

The purple dot at the bottom is a cyst that has mainly disappeared but left behind a little purple scar .
Brief Answer:
antibiotic course followed by surgical excision of cyst
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Thanks for attaching the image.
If you were my patient, I would have advised you a 5 -7days course of antibiotic - Ampicillin and Dicloxacillin combination or till the infection is settled. Application of topical antibiotic like mupirocin 2 percent also helps.
The white colored material that you noticed is most likely the content of sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cyst contains white cheesy material which is actually the collected sebaceous gland secretions.
Once infection resolves, you may go for sebaceous cyst removal by surgical excision under local anaesthesia. Else intralesional steroid injections can be given for suppression of cyst.
I will advise you to visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription.
You can share my opinion with him.
I am sure that he would agree with this.
I hope it helps.
Stay healthy.
