Suggest Treatment For Cyst On The Liver
Question: Hi, I am just wondering about something, and maybe you can set my mind at ease. I fond out in 2010 that I had two simple cysts on the liver, quite small, and they have just been monitoring them for the past few years. The most recent one, which was done a few weeks ago showed that one of them, on the right lobe of the liver, had changed a bit, and now they are saying that it is a comlex cyst. I went to my new doctor Friday and she has suggested seeing an gastroenterologist just to make sure what is going on, and whether anything needs to be done about these cysts. I also have one on my right kidney, which is somewha larger, 4.7 cms, and is also a simpe cyst.
Is there much much concern that this change indicates the one cyst may be cancerous? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
no need to be worried
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Every liver cyst, both simple and complex ones grow more or less during the time so this is not worrying. Also, simple cysts may become complex it its wall become septated. This is not sign of malignancy, such cysts very rarely become cancerous and at this point there is no need for some intervention. All you need is frequent ultrasound follow up and ct scan once in 3-4 years. Wish you good health. Regards
