What does secondary migraine means?
Is it curable?
If only possible to reduce number of attacks how less frequently it will come after medication?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.J XXXXXXX Anto Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am here to help you. I have read your question with care and understand that you have been having one sided headache since childhood and the frequency is being increasing these days. Further there is blurring of vision during episodes of headaches
You have also stated that the MRI report says about some Venous Problem and because of that circulation is not normal
1. From what you have said so far, it looks like headache due to increased pressure inside the skull (called raised ICT) and not like "secondary migraine"
2. Increased Pressure inside the skull in curable in most cases
3. It is possible to even cure it. It is also possible to reduce the number of attacks.
4. If we have removed the cause of increased pressure, it will not come again after stopping the drugs
I would request you to share the MRI Reports + Any Other Report you have regarding this so that I can go through all of those, get the correct picture and guide you accordingly
Also, If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions, please ask me
after starting medication ,now the vision is normal during headache and getting headache twice in a week
Decreased venous outflow produces increased pressure inside the skull
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Thanks for the reply
I have gone through all the images.
Arteries are blood vessels that bring blood into brain
Veins are blood vessels that drain blood from brain
In your case, there is obstruction / narrowing / hypoplasia of veins
This means that there is a problem in blood getting out of the brain
While Blood is freely coming into the brain through arteries, there is difficulty in getting out
This increases the pressure inside your skull - condition called as Raised Intra Cranial Hypertension (This is what I had diagnosed from your first query. Please see my first reply)
This raised Intra Cranial Tension will present as
1. Headache
2. Blurring of Vision
3. Vomiting
Of this,
You have had the first two
The treatment includes
1. Reducing the Pressure
2. Safeguarding your vision
Pressure can be reduced by
1. Drugs
2. Surgery (like Sub Temporal Decompression, LP Shunt etc)
Vision is safeguarded by
1. Reducing the pressure with Tablets
2. If vision does not become normal with tablets, you may need a small surgical procedure called optic nerve fenestration
Most people will have full relief with tablets and surgery is needed only for very few.
In your case you are having improvement with tablets. So you can continue the tablets and if the headache disappears there will be no need for surgery.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions / have follow up questions, then please do not hesitate in asking again. I will be happy to answer your questions.
