Suggest Treatment For Dark Spots On Feet Caused By Swelling
Probably associated with swelling of legs.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Due to leg swelling, the pressure on the veins is making it prominent.
2. As it increases, the areas will become reddish spots, which do not disappear with rest, which is due to vein damage leading onto hemorrhage.
3. If you press on the upper aspect of the foot, you can feel a depression, which is due to swelling. You may also notice, over the day, the shoes or footwear becomes too tight.
4. If there is no swelling, other cause I can possibly think of is allergic rashes from exposure to footwear or dust, etc. If there is itching, it could be the cause. Changing the footwear and not allowing exposure should stop it.
It is not related to any bleeding or clotting disorder, nor any side effect of medications, as it is disappearing.
Limb elevation regularly with at least 2-3 pillow below the feets in lying down position, particularly overnight should help in reduction of swelling. The legs should be above the heart level for reduction of swelling. Swelling of legs, usually both is commonly seen with hypertension.
Hope it helps.

Not age related.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.
No, age has no relation to the dark spots you are getting. As it is disappearing, you need not worry.
It is probably due to being in standing/ sitting position for long and increased venous pressure.
Being XXXXXXX will help. Get your blood pressure under control. If any fluid related swelling or prominent thick veins is present in the leg, you will need to meet you doctor for a possible color doppler test (ultrasound) of the leg.
These dark spots, over time, can become permanent with more blood accumulation and can lead onto ulcer formation. Need to reduce it through limb elevation. Meet your doctor for tests.
Hope it helps.
